For some fillings and gum treatments, your dentist may use a laser instead of, or as well as, conventional instruments. Ask whether it suits you and whether you’ll still need a local anaesthetic.

Procedures are explained thoroughly before we start, and you’re always involved in decisions (informed consent).

Sedation may be offered for anxious patients or complex extractions. Ask our team whether it is available for your treatment.

Intraoral scanners capture 3D impressions quickly and comfortably.

Many crowns, inlays and onlays can be completed in one appointment.

Agree a hand signal with your dentist so you can pause at any time.

You’re welcome to bring headphones and your own music, podcast or audiobook.

Feeling nervous?

Anxiety-friendly visits

Many people feel anxious about the dentist, and it’s fine to tell us. Let us know when you book, or tick “Very anxious” on the appointment form, so we can plan extra time.

  • Breaks. Ask for a pause whenever you need one.
  • A hand signal. Agree a stop signal before we begin.
  • Headphones. You’re welcome to bring your own music or podcast.
  • Step-by-step explanations. We tell you what’s next before we do it, and you can ask questions at any point.
  • Numbing. Numbing gel first, then local anaesthetic for treatment.
  • Sedation: ask our team whether it’s available for your treatment.

Individual experiences vary. Your dentist will talk through the options that suit you.

Make this website calmer

Anxiety-friendly mode softens colours, pauses animations and swaps pictures of needles, drills, blood and extractions for gentle illustrations. It’s saved on this device only.

You can also use the Calm button at the top of every page.

Clinical notes, with your permission. With your permission, our dentists may use Heidi, a secure clinical transcription tool, to transcribe your conversation during your appointment and help draft your clinical notes. Your dentist reviews and edits every note, and Heidi doesn't make any decisions about your care. We'll always ask you first, and you can say no or ask us to stop at any time without it affecting your care. Privacy Policy How we protect your information
