Frequently asked questions
Quick answers to the questions patients ask us most.
Do you record my appointment?
Clinical notes, with your permission. With your permission, our dentists may use Heidi, a secure clinical transcription tool, to transcribe your conversation during your appointment and help draft your clinical notes. Your dentist reviews and edits every note, and Heidi doesn't make any decisions about your care. We'll always ask you first, and you can say no or ask us to stop at any time without it affecting your care. Privacy Policy Heidi says it does not store audio recordings of consultations. How we protect your information
Will I see the same dentist every visit?
We try our best to book you with a dentist you are familiar with, if you prefer. As we have a relatively small team, it is easy to get to know us quickly. In some cases, such as an emergency appointment, you may be seen by a different dentist.
Which health funds do you accept?
We’re a network provider for HBF Member Plus Dental, HCF More for Teeth, Medibank Members’ Choice, Bupa Members First, nib First Choice and HIF Choice Network (Dr Lau, Dr Reidy and Dr Kaur). We also accept claims from ahm (as a recognised ahm provider), and members of all other health funds are welcome. Benefits are subject to your level of cover. We claim on the spot with Tyro. Digital quotes and invoices you can pay online via Tyro Health. Rebates depend on your fund and level of cover. Use our health fund checker to see which item numbers to ask your fund about.
Are you an HBF Member Plus dentist?
We’re an HBF Member Plus Dental Provider, and we’ve been approved for HBF’s new Member Plus Dental arrangement from 1 January 2027 to 31 December 2031. If your HBF extras cover includes the treatment and you’ve served any waiting periods, we won’t charge you more than HBF’s maximum Member Plus fee for eligible dental items. Your benefit still depends on your level of cover, limits and HBF’s fund rules, so there may still be an amount to pay. We give you a written estimate before planned treatment and can claim on the spot with Tyro. What Member Plus means for HBF members.
How can I pay?
Pay and claim on the spot with Tyro: our Tyro terminals take EFTPOS and card payments and handle on-the-spot health fund claiming, so you only pay any gap. Digital quotes and invoices you can pay online via Tyro Health. Payment details
What is accreditation, and what does it mean for me?
Dental practice accreditation is an independent, voluntary assessment of a practice against national safety and quality standards, including infection control, patient safety and continuous improvement. We are a QIP Accredited Dental Practice. Learn more about our accreditation.
What does a comprehensive exam involve?
A comprehensive exam is a detailed look at your teeth, gums and other oral tissues. Your dentist will check your bite, existing restorations and any signs of disease, and talk with you about your oral health. It is especially relevant for new patients or anyone who has not had a check-up for a while. X-rays may be taken where clinically needed, and we may take a digital 3D scan of your teeth with our intraoral scanner.
Why and when would I need X-rays?
Digital X-rays can help reveal problems such as decay, bone loss, injury or infection that may not be visible during an exam. They are commonly taken for new patients, when there is a change in your oral health, or if it has been a long time since your last check-up. Our team can explain the type of X-ray and the radiation involved.
Do you see children?
Yes, we welcome children and families. See our Kids’ zone and parents & carers page for tips on a first visit.
What should I do in a dental emergency?
Call us on (08) 9330 7115 as early as possible. If you have severe swelling, fever, or trouble breathing or swallowing, call 000 or go to your nearest emergency department. Our emergency helper can help you decide how urgently to call.
